Steel Cord Conveyor Belts are engineered for heavy-duty, long-distance material handling applications. Unlike fabric-reinforced belts, they utilize high-tensile steel cords as the core reinforcement, delivering minimal elongation, superior impact resistance, and exceptional durability. They are the preferred solution in industries such as mining, ports, and large-scale infrastructure where reliability and cost-per-ton efficiency are critical.

Key Features and Construction

The superior performance of a steel cord conveyor belt stems from its unique structure:

  • Steel Cord Reinforcement: The core of the belt consists of high-tensile steel cables, laid longitudinally and embedded in a specially formulated rubber compound. These steel cords provide immense tensile strength, allowing the belt to withstand extremely high operational tensions and absorb significant impact forces.
  • Top & Bottom Cover: The steel cord skeleton is protected by thick, wear-resistant rubber covers. The top cover is designed to withstand the abrasion from the loaded material, while the bottom cover is optimized for resistance to friction against the conveyor's idlers and pulleys.
  • Core Rubber: A high-adhesion rubber compound encapsulates the steel cords, ensuring excellent bonding to prevent moisture ingress and corrosion, while also allowing flexibility for the belt to trough over idlers.
Heat-resistant

Different types of grades are available for high-temperature applications (T120 and T200) such as clinker, coke, foundry sand and slag. Can be used for transporting material at continuous temperatures of up to 190 °C, with peaks of up to 200 °C.

Flame-resistant

Available in flame-resistant grade K to comply with ISO 340. Can be used in tunnel projects but not underground applications.
